Dynamic Thiol-Disulfide Homeostasis in Children with Newly Diagnosed Iron Deficiency Anemia

چکیده
Objective: Iron is an element, which found in the structure of antioxidant enzymes and has important role inactivation reactive oxygen species. Disruption oxidant-antioxidant balance may be playing a pathogenesis iron deficiency anemia (IDA). Dynamic thiol-disulfide homeostasis (DTDH) serum ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) levels are indicators pro-oxidant/antioxidant status. In this study, we aimed to evaluate DTDH parameters IMA children with newly diagnosed IDA, who did not receive therapy. Material Methods: Fifty patients IDA 33 healthy age- sex-matched control were included study. groups measured. The same also compared Hb<7 g/dl (profound IDA) (n:14/50, 28%) Hb≥7 (mild-moderate (n: 36/50, 72%) group. relationship between these investigated. Results: Native thiol, total native thiol/total thiol levels, constituting capacity indicators, significantly lower patients; while oxidant disulfide, disulfide/native disulfide/total statistically higher those group (p<0.050). When examined; there was positive correlation negative oxidative hemoglobin ferritin Also, much profound than Hb>7 Conclusion: increase disulfide decrease indicated stress before treatment, Evaluation predicting toxicity due IDA.

Effects of Nutritional variables in children with iron deficiency anemia
Introduction: Iron deficiency (ID) is the most prevalent nutritional disorder in the world. The prevalence of iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is about 9% in toddlers, 9-11% in adolescent girls and less than 1% in teenage boys. IDA presents when there is not sufficient iron for haemoglobin synthesis. In particular it has negative effects on the behavior, cognitive performance, immune system and phy...
متن کاملIron Deficiency and Iron Deficiency Anemia in Children with Febrile Seizure
Abstract Background Febrile seizure (FS) is the most common childhood seizures which occur in 2-5% of children. Studies about association between iron deficiency and febrile seizure have shown contradictory results. The purpose of this study was to compare the iron status of children with first febrile seizure and healthy control group. Materials and Methods In an analytic case-control ...
متن کاملIron Deficiency Anemia Diagnosed in Female Teenagers
Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is a common, worldwide problem with a prevalence of 9% in toddlers, 9-11% in adolescent girls, and less than 1% in teenager boys. Iron deficiency occurs in both developing and developed countries, making it the most common nutritional deficiency worldwide. In response to this epidemic, the World Health Organization’s goal is to reduce anemia in women of reproductive...
